"La memoria es un planeta lejano II"
“La memoria es un planeta lejano” . (2022)
Sound work. Immersive video.
"Memory is a distant planet" is an imaginary soundscape that reflects how we face death and memory in a planet scorched by hyper-capitalism.
The concept of memory is manifested in a series of voices that appear randomly, just as it happens when a radio signal travels in space and therefore in time. The voices keep repeating themselves, despite having been enunciated so long ago. The sounds of machines that constantly traverse the work represent the hyper-capitalism that watches over us at all times.
During the creation of the piece, I personally experienced a situation of mourning, of loss, which I integrated as a central force in the development of the project. The feeling I sought was one of personal introspection, manifested in drones and
in a series of looping sounds that repeat, evolve. Memory is part of a transit that does not end with death, but is transformed. The final part of the piece represents that unknown area that we will inevitably face and that remains a mystery.
The sound piece is supported by the projection of an immersive video work, which consists of a series of digitally processed photographs that, like the nature of the sound work, change in a subtle but definitive way, representing the transitory and the impermanent of the existence.
This work was part of the exhibition "Audioblast #10 Transmission / retransmission : Variant Waves", Nantes, France.
